  1. Introduction

These are Quarrybank Plumbers Ltd (“Quarrybank Plumbers”) Terms & Conditions. They cover the following subjects: 

  • The rules for using our services 
  • What you can expect from Quarrybank Plumbers
  • Your rights and responsibilities 

Please read these terms before using our services. By using our services, you are agreeing to these terms. 

By “Services” we mean anything offered by Quarrybank Plumbers, across all the trades we cover (Plumbing, Heating, Drains, Bathrooms, Electrics, Carpentry, Appliances, Roofing, Building, Emergencies, Domestic and Commercial): 

  • Enquiries 
  • Estimates and Quotes
  • Project Work 
  • Installations 
  • Repairs  
  • Servicing 
  • Guarantees 

Terminology For the purpose of these terms & conditions the following words have the following meanings:

  •  “Us/We/Our” refers to Quarrybank Plumbers
  •  “You” refers to you: the customer (the person or organisation for whom we agree to carry out work and/or supply or materials). 
  •  “Tradesperson/tradespeople” refers to the representative(s) appointed by Quarrybank Plumbers to carry out work. 

Please note that we reserve the right to refuse or decline to undertake any work. 

We reserve the right, at our absolute discretion, to designate the tradesperson/tradespeople who will represent us. 

  1. Charges 

The total charge to you will be given as a firm cost (manifest errors exempted), inclusive of labour & materials.

All costs are subject to VAT.  VAT will be detailed separately on all quotations and invoices. Where a written estimate has been supplied to you, the total charge outlined in the estimate should not exceed the estimation (quote) but may be revised in the following circumstances: 

  • If, after submission of the estimate, you instruct us (in writing or verbally) to carry out additional work not referred to in the estimate
  • If, after submission of the estimate, there is an increase in the price of materials
  • If, after submission of the estimate, it is discovered that further work needs to be carried out which was not anticipated when the estimate was prepared
  • If, after submission of the estimate, it is discovered that there was a manifest error when the estimate was prepared
  • Requirement of a detailed Insurance Report (in addition to the estimate and invoice) will incur a nominal charge of £25.00 plus vat. We will not be under any obligation to provide an estimate to you and will only be bound by estimates given in writing to you and signed by an authorised representative. We will not be bound by any estimates given orally or in which manifest errors occur. 

3. Bookings

All estimated work will not go ahead until officially agreed in writing, accepted online or verbally and pre booked by allocating a specific date by our office. Where there is a deposit required, the work will not commence or be booked into the diary system until the payment is received. 

Should you change the commencement date at short notice, we reserve the rights to allocate your next available slot at our discretion.

4. Bathrooms

Quoting for tiling within a bathroom quotation.
All quotes are based on the labour and adhesive for: Ceramic and Porcelain type tiles in traditional, straight layout.
Any specific tiling style, such as metro, herringbone, chevron, basket weave or similar, is a subject to an additional labour and adhesive costs. 
In line with this, tile board/plaster board and plastering may incur an additional cost to accomodate a non-traditional style of tiling. 
 
Any other tile chosen by the customer will have an increase in cost of installation and materials, including sealing for natural stone tiles.
 
In the event when a quote has been sent and accepted but the customer have decided to use tiles different than Ceramic or Porcelain,  Quarrybank Plumbers will send a revised quotation for the extra work involved in installing the tiles. 
 
List of tiles below that will be costed differently:
all natural stone tiles including:
  • Granite tile
  • Limestone tile
  • Marble tile
  • Travertine tile
  • Quarry tile
 
Other tiles: 
  • Glass tile
  • Resin tile
  • Mosaic tile
  • Cement tile

Quoting for bathroom suites, fixtures and fittings.

Quarrybank Plumbers only install bathroom suites from our preferred suppliers, details of which will provided during a quotation visit. 

Should you wish to carry out a bathroom fitting outside of our preferred suppliers, a charge of 10%-20% will be added on to the total cost listed in quotation. 

We request for customers to advise us on the source of bathroom suite before any work commences. 

Use of customer premisses during bathroom work.

In the event, that the customer does not wish for Quarrybank Plumbers staff to use their facilities, such as toilets during bathroom installations, they should notify the company in advance and then

  • Either provide a portable WC within the premisses boundaries; or
  • Quarrybank Plumbers will supply a portable WC and add the cost to the total invoice for the works

5. Invoices and payments

Upon your agreement for us to carry out estimated and pre booked work, a deposit payment stated in your quote is payable immediately. 

The job will NOT commence or be booked into the diary system if the deposit payment is not made and the job is not booked with the date confirmed in writing. 

With certain projects, we reserve the right to request full payment in advance at our discretion.

Upon completion of work you will be invoiced, for which payment is due on receipt. 

You accept sole liability to make payment in full on the day that is required. 

Quarrybank Plumbers reserve the right to accrue and charge for any invoices not paid within 7 working days. An admin charge of £69 plus Vat will be added onto the total amount every 7 days of any invoice not paid. 

We reserve full rights to keep your deposit money should you cancel the job outside of our cancellation policy (point 6). 

6. Timekeeping, appointments and work space arrangements

Where the date and/or time for work to be carried out is agreed, we will use reasonable endeavour to ensure that the tradesperson attends accordingly whilst you are agreeing to be present or give access to the place of work. 

In circumstances where our tradesperson turned up as agreed but was not let in (or no access given) we reserve full rights to charge you for the job (or hours we have allocated for that job) that would have been carried out as per agreed booking. 

For pre-booked 1 hour engineer’s appointments such as boiler service or a survey, in circumstances where the property owner was not in or access was denied, a fee of £85 plus Vat will apply. In such circumstances, our engineer will take a photograph of the property as a proof of attendance which will be supplied together with the invoice for the amount owed.

You are also required to provide space necessary for the work to take place, such as:

  • Where a new boiler installation is required, an adequate space to store new and old boiler once taken down, together with a reasonable amount of space for the engineer to work around, is required.
  • Where a new bathroom installation (or bathroom parts) is taking place, you are required to provide enough space ahead of the works to store new bathroom fixtures and fittings, including tiles and also adequate storage whilst the works are being carried out. We reserve full rights to decline work where no prior access to the property was provided to store bathroom parts ahead of installation.

We accept no liability in respect of the nonattendance or late-attendance on site of the tradesperson, or for the late or non-delivery of materials.

Quarrybank Plumbers are also not liable for any delay, or for the consequences of any delay, in performing any of our obligations if such delay is due to any cause beyond our reasonable control, and we will be entitled to a reasonable extension of the time for performing such obligations. 

7. Cancellation

Should you need to cancel (or rearrange) your booking, you must notify us (preferably by telephone) at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled booking. 

If you cancel an agreed job within less than 24 hours, you might be liable for the cost of time and materials incurred by as, together with the profit that would have been made by us, as set out in original instructions.  

Cancellations made further in advance should also be made by telephone or in writing, and you should request written confirmation from us, so that you are not liable to be charged. 

All the above under point 6, do not apply to new boiler and bathroom installations.

For boiler and bathroom installation we require 1 week’s notice (7 days) due to complexity of the service. 

Failing to cancel within the required notice will result in retaining deposit money by us, as well as possible liability on your behalf for all the cost of time and materials incurred by us, which were made in preparation.

8. Quality of the work

Quarrybank Plumbers are committed to providing professional and high quality service across all our services. 

If, after we have carried out the work, you are not wholly satisfied with our service(s) you must provide us with written notice within 30 days.

You must allow us the opportunity to both inspect and carry out remedial work where appropriate. If you fail to notify us, as outlined above, then we will not be liable in respect of any defects in the work carried out. 

9. Guarantee

Quarrybank Plumbers provide a 12 month guarantee on labour carried out by us, in respect of faulty workmanship only. This is active from the date of completion of work, in addition to any manufacturer’s warranty/warranties or guarantees.

The guarantee will become void if the work/appliance completed/supplied by us is: 

  • Subject to misuse or negligence
  • Repaired, modified or tampered with by anyone other than a Quarrybank Plumbers tradesperson

We will accept no liability for materials supplied by you and will accept no liability for any consequential damage or fault.

We will not guarantee any work in respect of:

  • Blockages in waste or drainage systems 
  • Any work undertaken on instruction from you and against the written or verbal advice of the tradesperson
  • Any work that has been carried out prior to Quarrybank Plumbers 

Work is only guaranteed in respect of work directly undertaken by us and full payment having been made. Any non-related faults arising from recommended work which has not been undertaken by us will not be guaranteed.

Where we agree to carry out work on installations of inferior quality or over five years old,  no warranty is given in respect of such work and we accept no liability in respect of the effectiveness of such work or otherwise. 

All boilers and cylinder guarantees are provided by the manufacturer. 

Only external work to the appliances, such as pipework or fittings are guaranteed by us.

10. Liability

We will only be liable for rectifying our own guaranteed work, and will not be held responsible for any ensuing damage or claims resulting from other work overlooked or subsequently requested and not undertaken at the time.

We will not be held liable or responsible for any damage or defect resulting from work not fully guaranteed, or where recommended work has not been carried out. Work will not carry a guarantee where you have been notified by the tradesperson either verbally or indicated in ticked boxes or in our comments/recommendations.

We shall not be held liable for any delay, or consequences of any delay, in performing our obligations if such a delay is due to any cause beyond our reasonable control and we shall be entitled to reasonable time extensions. 

We will be entitled to fully recover the costs or damages from any tradesperson (other than a Quarrybank Plumbers employees) whose negligence or faulty workmanship makes us liable to pay for those damages or rectification of work.

You will be solely liable for any hazardous situation in respect of the Gas Safe Regulations or any Gas Warning Notice issued by a Quarrybank Plumbers tradesperson on any existing installation. 

Quarrybank Plumbers are not responsible or liable for any existing pipework, radiators, pumps, controls, valves, boilers, water heaters and cylinders which were not installed by us, if they leak or become faulty after we have worked on your property. 

11. Title to Goods

Goods supplied and delivered by us to you, or your premises, shall remain our property until paid for by you in full.

However, it is your full responsibility to ensure the place where the goods are being stored during the works carried out, are in a secure and locked environment and insured where necessary. The risk of the goods will be passed on to you at the point of delivery.

12. Working hours & Emergencies

Quarrybank Plumbers’ working hours are as follow:

Monday – Friday 8am  – 5pm

Saturdays 8am – 4pm

In case of an emergency related to work already carried out by the Company and in between 5pm – 8pm, please leave us a voice message on the main contact number 01625462927 or email info@quarrybankplumbers.com and a team member will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

Any messages after 8pm will be answered the following day. We do not have an overnight assistance. 

13. Zero tolerance policy

Quarrybank Plumbers operates a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy towards aggressive or abusive behaviour.

This includes any personal, abusive or threatening comments, bad language, physical contact and aggressive gestures towards our employees.

This means that no abuse of our staff is acceptable, whether verbal or physical and any customer behaving in this manner whether in person or over the phone, will be asked to reconsider his behaviour before we decline any further work (in projects) or simply end the phone call. 

We take it very seriously if a member of staff is treated in an abusive or violent way and reserve the full right to cancel any further work previously agreed should such circumstances arise. 

14. General

These terms and conditions may not be released, discharged, supplemented, interpreted, varied or modified in any manner except by an instrument in writing signed by a duly authorised representative and you. 

Our terms and conditions will prevail over any terms and conditions used by you or contained, set out or referred to in any documentation sent to us by you. 

By entering into a contract with us you agree irrevocably to waive the application of any of these terms and conditions. 

These terms and conditions, and all contracts awarded between us and you, shall be governed and construed in accordance with English Law and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Law.
